T2 Trainspotting Trailer #2

Update: The movie will hit theatres on March 10th in the U.S. now instead of February.

After releasing a couple of short teasers to get the word out, Sony has finally unveiled the first full trailer for Danny Boyle’s upcoming Trainspotting follow-up, T2 Trainspotting. The movie brings back all of the original cast members including Ewan McGregor (Renton), Johnny Lee Miller (Sick Boy), Robert Carlisle (Begbie), and Ewan Bremner (Spud), not to mention Kelly Macdonald (Diane) and Shirley Henderson (Gail). It catches up with the characters 20 years later and is said to be loosely based on Irvine Welsh’s own sequel, Porno, although it is unclear just how much of the story will be taken from the book. Either way, the frenetic style and existential themes of the original are clearly intact, let’s just hope this adds up to something more than a cheap nostalgia trip. T2 Trainspotting hits theatres on Jan. 27th in the U.K. and Feb. 10th in the U.S.; check out the new trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
