Life Trailer: A Sci-Fi Thriller Starring Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal

Before Ryan Reynolds suits up for Deadpool 2, we’ll get to see him in a very different movie written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick called Life. Not to be confused with the Anton Corbijn film of the same name, this is a sci-fi thriller directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) and it revolves around the crew of the International Space Station who have just discovered something remarkable: the first evidence of alien life on Mars. Unfortunately for them, their encounter with this life form quickly turns from a dream come true to a full-blown nightmare. Interestingly, this one comes out just a few months before Alien: Covenant… can it give Ridley Scott a run for his money? Life co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Hiroyuki Sanada, Ariyon Bakare and Olga Dihovichnaya and it hits theatres on May 26th, 2017; check out the first trailer after the jump and see what you think.

LOL the black guy dies first. It’d only be funnier if he was wearing a red shirt and skyped with his pregnant wife before showing that scene.

Hadn’t heard of this one, but definitely interested based on that plot outline. Little iffy on the director though.

The black guy dying first is beyond trope at this point… it’s just
sad. You never even see movies play with this expectation, because
hollywood believes the white actors bring in the bucks… so cynical.

It looks like they didn’t even have to think twice about doing it in this one.
