Team Thor: Taika Waititi’s Mockumentary Explains Thor’s Absence from Civil War

Although Marvel decided to keep most of their Comic-Con panel offline and exclusive to attendees this year, they have finally made public one of the videos that we heard so much about last month. Team Thor is a short mockumentary directed by Taika Waititi (who is also helming the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok) done in the style of his recent vampire comedy What We Do in the Shadows. The video claims to reveal what Thor was up to while the rest of The Avengers were taking sides during Captain America: Civil War (it will also be included as an extra on the Captain America: Civil War Blu-ray). Although there are certainly some things in here that bring Thor’s IQ level into question, I can’t help but wonder what an entire Marvel movie in this style might be like and whether this is at all any indication of what to expect from Thor: Ragnarok. Captain America: Civil War hits DVD and Blu-ray on Sept. 13th; check out the video after the jump and let us know what you think.

Would’ve been funnier if Thor shared his flat with Ghostbuster’s Kevin.

If the new Thor movie was like this for it’s entirety I’d actually lift my boycott on super hero films and go and see it. The fact that Taika is directing, I will probably have to get on board anyway as The Hunt for the Wilderpeople was the most enjoyable comedy I’ve seen in years. The last one was the French film.. The Intouchables.

I recently saw his first film, Eagle Vs Shark and watched the special features where in an interview he stated that he had no interest in doing big blockbuster films. While I am here, when The Hunt for the Wilderpeople gets a DVD release at the end of this month can film Junk please do a proper review… Not just a what we watched. I’d recommend you open the podcast with the track Makutekahu and close the show with Trifecta.
