Terrence Malick’s Voyage of Time IMAX Trailer

Well we’ve been hearing about this one for quite some… uh… time, but it appears that Terrence Malick’s epic documentary about the known universe is finally upon us. He has supposedly been working on it for over 30 years (some of the footage was actually used in The Tree of Life), but a 40-minute cut will arrive in IMAX theatres this fall. Voyage of Time is narrated by Brad Pitt and scored by Ennio Morricone and it will trace the entire history of cosmos from the Big Bang to the present day. A longer version is still expected to be released eventually with Cate Blanchett narrating, but the release date on that one is still unknown. Voyage of Time: The IMAX Experience hits IMAX theatres on Oct. 7th; check out the gorgeous first trailer after the jump and see what you think.

  • The IMAX film is 40 minutes and the Cate Blanchett version will supposedly be about 90? What happened Terry?! Gimme 3 hours minimum or GTFO!
All kidding aside, the footage looks glorious and I’m glad they got Brad Pitt to wake up long enough to read that voice over.

40 minutes? According to Franks 90 minute minimum rule for Letterbox’d we can’t even log this one. Christ this is basically a short film. 30 years my ass.
