The next installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean series has been in development for quite a while now with Kon-Tiki directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg originally being hired to direct back in 2013. The movie was pushed back a couple of years due to script and budget issues (and also the failure of The Lone Ranger) but finally started and finished principal photography in the first half of 2015. Although the movie has been in post-production for quite a while now, we are hearing that Disney is now gearing up to shoot some additional footage, including a scene that will reportedly bring another legendary rock star into the mix. Hit the jump to find out what we know.
According to Deadline, Paul McCartney has quietly joined the cast of Disney’s Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. He will appear in a new “extra big set-piece scene” which will be shot in Vancouver over the next few weeks. There are currently no plans to reshoot any existing footage, however. McCartney’s role is being kept under wraps but you can bet they’re hoping it will pay off in the same way that Keith Richards did for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and On Stranger Tides.
The fifth Pirates film brings back Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, while Javier Bardem will play a new villain named Captain Salazar. Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario will also play new characters while Orlando Bloom will reprise his role as Will Turner after sitting out the last film. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales hits theatres on May 26th, 2017… are you looking forward to one more adventure?
