Although Jay Roach’s claim to fame used to be the Austin Powers movies, in recent years he has been moving into more “prestigious” territory, having won Primetime Emmys for directing a couple of political HBO movies, Recount and Game Change. Now this year he is directing another one of these for HBO and bringing his Trumbo star Bryan Cranston along with him. All the Way takes us back to 1964 and the aftermath of JFK’s assassination, focusing on Lyndon B. Johnson’s tumultuous first year in office. Written by Robert Schenkkan (The Pacific) based on his own Tony Award-winning play, the movie stars Cranston in the lead role along with Anthony Mackie, Melissa Leo, Bradley Whitford, Stephen Root, Marque Richardson, Aisha Hinds, Todd Weeks, Mo McRae, Spencer Garrett and Frank Langella. All the Way premieres on HBO on Sat. May 21st at 8 pm; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
