New on Netflix: December 2015

newonnetflixdec2015sm

The holiday season is upon us and Netflix is celebrating in a big way with the release of their original Christmas special A Very Murray Christmas. Other new additions in the U.S. include Sam Raimi’s Darkman, Sam Mendes’ American Beauty and Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut plus the Sundance sensation that was shot on an iPhone, Tangerine, and a couple of acclaimed documentaries: Best of Enemies and Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films. Meanwhile in Canada, we’ve got Fast Five, Kick-Ass 2, Bridesmaids, Ninja Assassin and Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes plus the docs Iris, The Devil and Daniel Johnston, and Lambert & Stamp. Overall though, it’s a pretty lacklustre line-up to end the year. Will you be adding anything to your queue? Check out the full list of new additions after the jump.

Around the Web:

  • Deven Science

Might be time to revisit Escape From LA.

  • Adam

I can’t recommend Black Coal, Thin Ice highly enough. I saw this at San Francisco Int’l Film Festival and instantly fell in love with it. Those who gravitate towards films like Memories of Murder, and Zodiac should not be let down by this one.

  • Flo Lieb

To me it was way inferior to Zodiac and also less captivating than Memories of Murder. But I do agree that it falls in line with those movies.

  • Eric B

I new soon as I rented zipper they would put it on Netflix.

Definitely queuing up A Very Murray Christmas, series 8 of Peep Show (Series 9 is about to air in the UK I believe), Electric Boogaloo and Black Coal, Thin Ice. Sadly, the Crossroads mentioned is the Britney Spears vehicle rather than the Ralph Macchio vs. Steve Vai as Satan guitar battle epic.
