New on Netflix: Beasts of No Nation, Gravity, The Lazarus Effect

netflixbeastsofnonation

Netflix’s first feature film Beasts of No Nation premieres in all regions this weekend and seems to be earning plenty of critical acclaim, although it clearly will not have the same widespread appeal as many of their Netflix Original shows. Other recent additions in the U.S. include the horror flick The Lazarus Effect starring Olivia Wilde, Strangerland starring Nicole Kidman, Tremors 5: Bloodline and new seasons of Arrow, The Flash and American Horror Story. Canadians get Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, the civil rights drama Selma and The Gambler remake starring Mark Wahlberg, while both regions get Bill Plympton’s Cheatin’, Police Story: Lockdown starring Jackie Chan, and the Ukrainian uprising doc Winter on Fire. Will you be adding anything to your queue? Check out the list of new additions after the jump.

Around the Web:

  • Deven Science

I see nothing worth adding to my queue. Another disappointing month for Netflix. These guys are slipping in the quality of their movies.

  • B MP Rooney

I’d say, Netflix Instant had quality films about five to six years ago. Once more and more people started to borrow and share accounts, Netflix has invested more time in quantity rather than quality. It is a scam website.

  • Deven Science

I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s a scam, but yes, their priorities have changed. They are losing important movies to such things as HULU and Amazon Prime, so their focus is more on their original programming, which is hit or miss for me.
