Weekly Poll Results: Best Non-Bond Spy Movie

pollresultsspymovie

Last week we asked Film Junk readers to cast their vote for the best spy movie outside of the James Bond series. The results would seem to indicate that there are quite a few quality options with The Bourne Identity barely edging out Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest for the top spot. Although a win for Bourne was probably always in the cards, it is interesting that the first film in the series seems to be the favourite. In third place, we had a tie between Francis Ford Coppola’s The Conversation and James Cameron’s True Lies, while German thriller The Lives of Others rounded out the top 5. There were also two Mission: Impossible movies in the top 10 while Mata Hari, The Good Shepherd and Salt ended up at the bottom of the list. Do you agree with these results?

1. The Bourne Identity — 12%
2. North by Northwest — 11%

Where is the podcast? No Vacation review?

  • Sean

No podcast this week. We’ll be back next week with reviews of (hopefully) The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Straight Outta Compton and American Ultra.

Was Man from Uncle any good?

  • Stinker

Yes. my number 1 is number 2 and number 2 is my number 1. And Number 6 is Number 6, and not Number 1.

Filmjunk has a good bunch of listeners, the list prove it.

What about number 3? That’s tops!

Channeling the King of Conspiracy, I´d like to inquire if there is a connection between Jay´s epic meltdown on last week´s show (almost resembling Junior in Frank´s beloved “Problem Child”) and this rare podcast break.
I have never heard Jay as “out of it” or annoyingly distracted as on the last show (excluding his nappy post-dental-op codeine appearance), leading me to wonder if he had to take meds due to a sickness that possibly worsened this week.

  • Sean

No connection. My kids were sick. We just decided it was easier to skip a week than record over Skype and have me show up for only half the show.

Well this totally screws up the advance calendaring I had already done for the Film Junk 1,000th episode special.
