First Cast Photo from Star Wars: Rogue One

Over the weekend at the D23 Expo, Disney and Lucasfilm finally confirmed the previous rumours that Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow would be directing Star Wars: Episode IX. However, the thing that really had fans excited was the first cast photo from Rogue One, the first in the upcoming Star Wars Anthology series (now apparently called Star Wars Stories). The movie takes place just before Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope and follows a team of Rebels as they attempt to steal plans for the Death Star.

The recently revealed primary cast includes Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Ben Mendehlson, Riz Ahmed, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen. Producer Kathleen Kennedy said that the movie “goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know.” Rogue One is being directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) and will hit theatres on Dec. 16, 2016; check out the first photo after the jump and see what you think.

Looks definitely used, and this is he best way to make the “good Guys” as different from the “Bad Guys” as possible. “Bad Guys” will be clean cut wearing white uniforms. This could be awesome.

And what if del Torro gets a shot at a Star Wars story, this could be ……awesome….and defiantly in a used Environment.

Is Forest Whitaker in that picture? The one dude sort of looks like him, but not sure.

From the background it looks like they are in one of the temples on Yavin IV. The planet the death star was attacking at the end of A New Hope

Love it! I’ve been excited for this the moment Gareth Edwards said it will be gritty and realistic and will focus on the ground troops trying to reach the Death Star. He did the perspective shots in Godzilla so well, so I can really picture him doing the same with the Death Star. I’m just as excited for this as I am for Force Awakens.
