New on Netflix: July 2015

newonnetflix

We’ve got some catching up to do this week as July ushers in a decent amount of new additions on Netflix. In the U.S., there are 11 seasons of NCIS and the first five Rocky movies plus plenty of other ’80s favourites including Conan the Barbarian, Flashdance, Highlander, The Terminator, WarGames, Road House and The Delta Force. There are also a couple of recent indie flicks including Cake starring Jennifer Aniston and Faults starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

In Canada, we get some big 2012 and 2013 blockbusters like Man of Steel, Prometheus and Pacific Rim plus recent crime drama The Drop starring Tom Hardy and YA flick The Maze Runner. Canadians are also blessed with the first three Step Up movies while subscribers in both regions get a few older Stephen Chow movies and the indie sci-fi film Advantageous. Will you be adding anything here to your Netflix queue? Check out the full list of new additions after the jump.

Around the Web:

  • ECONOMYpolitica

Been watching a lot of THE A-TEAM and the two ROCKY movies I hadn’t seen. ROCKY V is actually pretty good. My dad’s friend is the KGB agent who walks into the ring before he fights Drago.

  • B MP Rooney

The internet is for stupid people.

  • Deven Science

The Sitter is not showing up now, but I’ll check on it again in a few days, I guess.

  • Sean

Hmm yeah that one was listed on one particular site but not another, so it’s possible that it was an error. The sites that I use for the listings are not 100% reliable.

  • devolutionary

I think you mean Rocky IV, unless your last 2 sentences are unrelated. Would make more sense considering V is written (and acted) terribly.

  • ECONOMYpolitica

Here come the thought police! No, I mean what I wrote. I’m not a biological android. I actually like a movie you don’t. ROCKY V is a much better and more compelling movie than ROCKY IV.

  • devolutionary

My mistake. Next time be a little more clear please. Thanks.

  • ECONOMYpolitica

No, my thoughts were clear as day to anyone who can see what is in front of him unclouded by his own thoughts.

Also, how can you be sure I like a lot of movies you don’t? Would you be willing to bet your life on that assumption?

  • devolutionary

Considering this is a text conversation on the Internet, sure why not? ;) Actually I’m basing that on your Film Junk movie comments past (unless you were trolling).

  • ECONOMYpolitica

You know me so well, yet you doubted my comment about ROCKY V. Something doesn’t add up.

  • devolutionary

A little heavy on the assumptions there. The chances of anyone differing on ‘several’ [RE. not a lot of] films is very likely.

  • ECONOMYpolitica

    Huh?

  • devolutionary

Re-read the entire thread again. I’m specifically commenting on you stating ‘a lot of movies’ where I clearly responded with ‘several’. I even originally included a caveat reply to your supposed “clear as day” Rocky post at the top. I think you’re splitting more hairs than I ever was.

  • ECONOMYpolitica

Nope. You’re not even coherent anymore.

  • devolutionary

I’m wondering if you ever were in this thread.

  • ECONOMYpolitica

Are you sassing me? Go watch ROCKY V and tell me it’s not transcendent!

  • devolutionary

Seen it a few times in my life (to my detriment). I’ve rewatched all the Rocky films multiple times since they were added to Netflix Canada actually. Is Rocky V, dramatically on paper, a better film than IV? Yes. Do I think it translated better onto film than IV? Nope. IV isn’t even in my Top 3 but I think it succeeds far better at what it attempts to do than V. To me, Rocky Balboa is the film that V could’ve been.

  • ECONOMYpolitica

IV is the only truly terrible film in the series.
