Film Junk 2014 Reader’s Choice Awards: Voting is Now Open!

readerschoice14

It’s that time of year again! As many of you are no doubt aware, every December we give Film Junk readers the opportunity to vote on the best movies of the year and then we tally the results and argue about it. It’s something of a holiday tradition here. The way it works is that we provide you with a list of nominees divided up into dubious categories by genre. In order to be considered for inclusion, movies had to receive a U.S. theatrical release during this calendar year. Beyond that, we tried to organize the categories in a way that would provide maximum drama and excitement. However, even if you’re not happy with the options we have provided, you also have write-in votes for Best and Worst Movies of the Year so be sure to use them wisely! The winners will be announced sometime around Jan. 1st. Now go ahead and cast your votes for the 2014 Film Junk Reader’s Choice Awards!

What a great year for sci-fi.

    Nymphomaniac was a foreign movie?

  • mr horse

please, please include Predestination for best scifi.

    sirs!

  • Sean

Not foreign language but it’s a foreign production. Maybe a bit of a stretch but I thought it was worth including.

  • Sean

Considered it but it isn’t officially released until next year.

  • Jesse Bajenaru

After posting, I figured that was the case.

  • mr horse

irrelevant. we saw the damn thing, it’s 2014, we’re readers and you’re polling us.

  • Jesse Bajenaru

Yeah, he is polling is on 2014 movies. And it is not a 2014 movie…

  • Jameson

I’m surprised Ida isn’t in the Foreign Category.

  • a horse divided against itself

yes it bloody well is, since it was already released to.the.world.

i have no freaking idea what’s out officially and on which continent mkay, this is the internet.

Well taking into account this is Film Junks website and Film Junks poll of Film Junks readers choice, then we are using Film Junks rules for that poll. Sean clearly said for it to be eligible it has to have a US Theatrical release.

So just because the movie was leaked early and you torrented it, that means it should be included in the list for 2014?

I’ll quote you, “sorry, but no.”

  • ECONOMYpolitica

Mr. Peabody and Sherman for Best Picture.

  • mr horse

    whoaa easy there, goaty

2 ups for your post, ok. here, an ‘up yours’ from me :)

  • mr horse

hey bud, cut the blabber, there’s a podcast about the movie.
i bet you’ll bring out some other stupid rule to explain that..
i’ll add you on my list of uninteresting pendantic pricks, if that’s what you’re asking me, sure

  • Jesse Bajenaru

Ha. Once again you miss all the points and are apparently so far up Predistinations ass that you are getting mad (which is pathetic). I have no rules myself, so nice try there. Yet I am on a website and participating in THEIR posts…so I reiterated THEIR “rules”. So you have no argument about anything.

    Nice try, “sorry, but no”

Under The Skin was my best of the year last year, so I voted for Leviathan this year. Hopefully you guys see it soon; I think Mr. Cheel would really like it.
