Peanuts Teaser Trailer: Charlie Brown and Snoopy Go 3D

peanuts

Good grief. Having grown up on A Charlie Brown Christmas and several of the other Charlie Brown TV specials, I don’t think I’m alone in saying that I was not particularly enthused by the prospect of a new Peanuts CG animated film. This was one property that seemed too precious to be turned into yet another Alvin and the Chipmunks-style monstrosity full of pop culture references and poop jokes. Without Charles Schulz around to oversee it, the potential for disaster seemed high.

That being said, the movie is being produced by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) along with Charles Schulz’s son Craig, while his grandson Bryan co-wrote the script. At the very least, I will admit that the look and feel of the original comic strips and animated specials seem to have mostly survived the transition to 3D. Peanuts is directed by Steve Martino (Horton Hears a Who!, Ice Age: Continental Drift) and hits theatres on Nov. 6th, 2015; check out the first teaser trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

    I loved this.

It would be better as a claymation movie by Wes Anderson. This looks alright though.

There are already a lot of shit Charlie Brown cartoons. The only good ones are the Christmas special, Halloween and Thanksgiving. Even the comic wasn’t that great. And yet this still feels gross to me.

Shows how good animation can look atrocious when turned into CG.
