2012 Film Junk Readers Choice Award Winners

Although we already announced the winners of the 2012 Readers’ Choice Awards on the latest episode of the Film Junk Podcast, I know you’re all just dying to see the full voting breakdown. After all, this is where you get to praise your fellow Film Junkies for their great taste in movies and/or mourn their total ignorance of quality cinema. Most of the categories had pretty decisive winners, but by far the two closest races were between Prometheus and Looper for Best Sci-fi / Fantasy and Holy Motors and Headhunters in the Foreign Film category. The Animated category had the highest number of votes spread around to all five nominees. So what do you think, do you agree with these results? Are there any big surprises? Check out the final tallies after the jump.

I’m glad 21 Jump Street beat out Ted. That movie is such a horrible piece of shit.

  • Indianamcclain

The Dark Knight Rises seriously beat everything else for movie of the year? I liked it but it didn’t reach that level of greatness. Now the Dark Knight on the other hand…

It seriously baffles me that TDKR won movie of the year. Especially after the berating that some of us took for supporting The Avengers.

Dark Knight Rises, really? It is a good film but not a great one, a 7/10 at most. My film of the year has to be Looper and the worst Red Tails.

  • Falsk

I thought This Is 40 just narrowly beat out 21 Jump Street. But only just. What’s the world coming to that Judd Apatow had the funniest film of the year?

  • kyri

It would be nice if you posted your top ten lists as well.. if it’s not too much of a hassle of course..

  • MrHorse

tha cabin was barely voted.. 3/%

tdkr definetly not the best movie of the year. as specialists say, folk just vote what they imagine to be the most popular ..or something to that effect.

the story alone has more holes than schweizer cheese; if you cut a slice and pick it up, it breaks before reaching the bread. the rest is mostly (except selina restaurant & marion breasts scenes) rushed (cutting, set up [mizensein?], acting included) and stupid (action scenes are ridiculous), the ending was also butched into failure. way long; way choppy; disjunct storywise (how did he get back); no need for levitt or modine etc etc
i kinda liked it, but it’s average.

the rest were predictable ..no contest really. except the idiotic and imbecillic prometheus, of course.

    kudos to the voters

  • MrHorse

    sry, “botched into”

Happy that The Raid did as well as it did (why was it not included in the Foreign category?) but sad that it lost out to Bond.

  • Steve

Overrated movie of the year- The Dark Knight Rises or Moonrise Kingdom? My vote is for Moonrise.

Was Jiro Dreams of Sushi in this poll? I gave that a 5/5. I have not yet seen The Imposter. I gotta check out The Ambassador as it is now in Netflix Instant US.
