2013 is potentially going to be a big year for Dwayne Johnson with G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Pain & Gain and The Fast and the Furious 6 all scheduled to be released, but before any of these movies hit theatres, we’ll be seeing him in a crime thriller called Snitch. Johnson plays a father who chooses to go undercover for the DEA in order to save his son from going to jail. Michael K. Williams plays a drug kingpin, while Susan Sarandon, Jon Bernthal, Barry Pepper and Harold Perrineau also co-star.
Watching the trailer, it definitely feels pretty similar to Mark Wahlberg’s Contraband, but some of the action sequences look bigger than expected for a mid-range budget film. I guess this makes sense considering that the movie is directed by long-time stunt co-ordinator Ric Roman Waugh. Overall, it feels like the kind of mediocre genre fare that usually comes out in February, but it could also be a pleasant surprise. Snitch hits theatres on Feb. 22nd; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
