V/H/S Trailer

Fresh off its announcement as part of Toronto After Dark’s Summer Screening series, here is the first trailer for V/H/S. We’ve had a minor resurgence in horror anthology films over the past few years with projects like Chillerama, The ABCs of Death, and Paris I’ll Kill You, but this one updates the concept with an intriguing premise. The central story behind V/H/S follows a group of thieves who break into a house and end up finding several tapes full of gruesome footage, each more horrifying than the last. In other words, you guessed it: we’ve finally got our first found footage horror anthology!

V/H/S features segments directed by Ti West (The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers), Adam Wingard (A Horrible Way to Die, You’re Next), Joe Swanberg (Silver Bullets, Hannah Takes the Stairs), Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead) and David Bruckner (The Signal) along with the four guys who make up Radio Silence. While Ti West is the obvious draw here, the others have decent enough credentials that make me curious to see what they will bring to the collaboration. The movie supposedly left a serious impression on viewers at Sundance and SXSW, and based on this red band trailer, it does look rather brutal and bloody. Too bad Harmony Korine couldn’t have contributed a disturbing segment of someone humping trash for good measure. V/H/S hits VOD on August 31st and select theatres on September 12th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
