The Watch Red Band Trailer (Formerly Known as Neighborhood Watch)

The teaser trailer for the upcoming comedy Neighborhood Watch was pulled from theatres last month in the wake of the death of Trayvon Martin, a Florida teenager who was shot dead without provocation by a member of the local neighborhood watch. It was the right move, but it also left many people to wonder how Fox could continue to market a movie with that title at all. Just last week they responded by announcing that the movie has been retitled to simply The Watch, and a new red band trailer has been released to support it.

The story revolves around a group of suburban dads who believe that their town has been invaded by aliens, and this time around, we finally get to see some alien goo (although not the aliens themselves). We also get to see a lot of R-rated riffing between Jonah Hill, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Richard Ayoade. I am pretty much sold based on the cast alone, I just hope this isn’t another summer comedy that’s going to try too hard to be offensive and shocking. As it stands right now, I’m very much looking forward to it. The Watch hits theatres on July 27th; check out the new trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Looks like it has potential, or it could be this year’s Paul

  • Adam

I look cool, but it looks like the film could start with them looking for some aliens, then when they find the gun the rest of the film is just them getting into wacky situations with the gun around town and they never go back to the main story about the aliens. Not bashing the film just saying it could happen.

    Colin: Paul was awesome.

So glad to see Richard Ayoade again.

That Skrillex track seemed really out of place.

  • Matt Gamble

Yeah, if this is this year’s Paul I’ll be very happy.

  • Batman

Seth Rogan helped write this film, i’m suprised he isn’t in it as well.

First comedy trailer this year that made me laugh more than once! I might actually see this one!
