Morgan Spurlock’s Mansome Trailer

Although he’s recently been dropping hints about directing his first fictional feature, which he describes as being “very Erin Brockovich-ish”, director Morgan Spurlock also has another documentary coming out this year as well. Premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival this past weekend, Mansome explores the amusing world of male grooming in a broad comedic way like only Morgan Spurlock can. The first trailer has now hit the web, and well… it looks like a Morgan Spurlock documentary.

The movie is produced by Will Arnett and Jason Bateman, and strangely enough, they both figure quite prominently in the trailer. Other notable celebrity talking heads include Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis, Adam Carolla and Judd Apatow. It kind of reminds me of Chris Rock’s Good Hair and another documentary I saw a few years back called American Mullet. I’m sure it will be moderately amusing, but let’s face it… there isn’t anything deep going on here at all. Mansome does not have a theatrical release date as of yet; check out the first trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

Morgan Spurlock has a knack for making documentaries that are not only informative, but amusing. 30 days was a delightful series that made many valid points while still providing a few laughs for the audience. The fact that he is taking on male grooming is an incredible idea and seems very unlikely to fail at humor. Spurlock has a way of teaching through encouraging laughter at one’s own lifestyle.

I will watch this simply because Galifianakis is in it. Even if he’s there for 2 minutes out of 90. Guy makes me laugh even if he doesn’t do anything particularly funny. And he’s definitely a strong 2.
