From the screenwriting team that brought you Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Star Trek and Cowboys & Aliens, comes the heartwarming story of a man who is forced to give money to a sister that he never knew existed! Yes, that’s right, Alex Kurtzman is once again teaming up with his buddy Roberto Orci to make his directorial debut with a film called People Like Us, a simple drama that has nothing to do with aliens, spaceships or robots. Can they actually pull it off?
The plot revolves around a man up to his eyeballs in debt who inherits $150,000 with the explicit instructions to give it to a woman he has never met. It’s a tough decision but hey, I’m sure he’ll do the right thing! Watching the trailer for the film, I kept waiting for a hook that never actually came. It seems so straightforward that it’s almost boring, but I suppose it will probably be sold on the cast, which includes Chris Pine, Elizabeth Banks, Olivia Wilde, Jon Favreau and Michelle Pfeiffer. People Like Us hits theatres on June 29th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
