The Movie Club Podcast #20: Visitor Q and Irreversible

The Movie Club Podcast is an irregular roundtable podcast where we select two movies to dissect, analyze and discuss with a group of fellow movie bloggers and film fans.

We made it! Episode #20… can you believe it? It’s been a long time coming, but we finally have the 20th episode of The Movie Club Podcast recorded and ready for consumption. Clearly there is no better way to celebrate this milestone than with two pretty extreme films: Takashi Miike’s Visitor Q and Gaspar Noe’s Irreversible. Can you stomach them? Did we stomach them? You have to listen to find out!

This time around we are joined by Kurt and Marina from Row Three, in addition to James from Where The Long Tail Ends. Head over to MovieClubPodcast.com to download the episode, and don’t forget to add your own thoughts in the comments as well. Your viewing assignment for the next episode is Orson Welles’ F for Fake and Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman’s Catfish.

  • Kurt

It’s mentioned, but alas, no fully blown dicussion on it. (typo and pun intended)

I was looking forward to the Visitor Q discussion, kinda surprised it wasn’t well received. I first watched Visitor Q at a New Years party with 3 other people, who had no clue what they were about to see. Maybe the film works better when watched with a group, there is plenty of time to comment about what is going on without disrupting the film. I always regarded Visitor Q as one of Miike better films, the budget was $80,000.

I’ve never heard of Visitor Q but look forward to listening to the discussion.

Sucks that I wasn’t able to make it. I had tried to defend Visitor Q as much as I could.

  • dt

    Visitor Q is amazing.
