The Movie Club Podcast #13: The Alien Quadrilogy

movieclub13

The Movie Club Podcast is a monthly roundtable podcast where we select two movies to dissect, analyze and discuss with a group of fellow movie bloggers and film fans.

This was a pretty big episode of The Movie Club Podcast, but hopefully it’s one that a lot of people will be interested in. This month we decided to sit down and go through all four movies in the so-called Alien Quadrilogy (Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection). They are all distinctly different, and believe it or not, each one had supporters, resulting in some interesting points of view for discussion.

Head over to The Movie Club Podcast website (linked below) to grab the entire 2 hour and 47 minute podcast now. Also be sure to leave your own comments over there, and cast your vote in the poll for episode #15. Next month we will be taking on a pair of serial killer flicks: Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers and Andrew Dominik’s Chopper.

Awesome! Alien and aliens are my top 2 movies of all time so I can’t wait to hear you guys talk about them in depth. And being Australian, it will be interesting hearing you guys talk about Chopper. The actual person has become a bit of an Aussie legend which I don’t really see why..

  • Great episode. Please PLEASE discuss “Prince of Darkness” for the next episode. I have been dying to discuss that film forever, but nobody I know has seen it, or even wants to see it.

Yessss. Been waiting for this one

    Hi there,

the iTunes feed doesn’t work. Genreal Problem?

  • Oops, that’s my fault Mike. Marina edited the show, but I still had to update the RSS feed. Should be fixed now I think.

  • Great podcast, it was a blast.

Love me some Alien and Alien Resurrection. Speaking of Resurrection, I didn’t notice that was Ryder in Star Trek till I got home!

Great discussion! Thanks guys! There’s so much to talk and disagree about the Alien movies. I know Aliens is a better (made, directed, acted, etc) film than Resurrection, but if I have to choose which one to watch I’d have to pick Resurrection. I liked hearing some of the hate for that movie finally backed up with some arguments, but they haven’t won me over! :)

  • Bas

Shit, I meant Alien, not AlienS! Of course, Aliens kicks the crap out of Resurrection!

Googling for an ALIEN podcast I found you guys!
Great discussion. I had a two hour drive to make on a trip for work so I plugged in my IPOD and listened to you all dissect the series.

The biggest surprise was so many of you guys LIKED the Newt killing ALIEN 3! I was with Marina (who needed to talk more!) in that it was totally boring.

Looking forward to listening to some of your other podcasts. Thanks for the entertainment.
