I think this may be old news to some, but I just read an interesting tidbit over on If It’s Movies about the long-rumoured Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair extended DVD release. First of all, it sounds like it actually is still happening… so that’s good news. Tarantino has been talking about this since even before Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2 came out as barebones DVDs, so it’s about damn time.
Now, the interesting thing is that Tarantino had always hinted that there was more to the Kill Bill story, and that he wanted to perhaps do a prequel and/or sequel, ideally in animated form. Well it looks like he now may just be incorporating those ideas into the new combined cut of the two films.
According to Uma Thurman: “Right now he’s putting the two films together with an intermission with an added anime sequence he had already written… so additional stories are in there, in animation.” Sounds like a cool idea to me, and a good way to add value for people who are going to be buying these movies all over again. I can only hope Tarantino will stick with it long enough to finally get it released within the next 5 years or so!
