If you were surprised to see Johnny Knoxville put his “serious” acting career on hold to return for Jackass: Number Two, you probably won’t be surprised to hear that he is not joining the Jackass crew for their next movie. But what is their next movie, you ask? Well, here’s a hint: it’s not Jackass Number Three. Apparently Chris Pontius, Steve-O, Preston Lacy, and Wee Man are working on a new comedy that won’t be reality-based and won’t involve stunts. Instead it is a scripted feature film about a group of misfit volunteer firefighters called Hosed.
The script is being written by Adam Davis (Just Friends), and the movie is being produced under Madonna’s Maverick Films banner for HBO. Somehow I have a feeling this won’t turn out so well. Johnny Knoxville’s acting hasn’t been great outside of Jackass, and I don’t know if their natural charisma and on-screen chemistry can carry an entire movie. There’s a big difference between being funny in an unscripted environment with friends, and acting from someone else’s screenplay. The only way I can see it working is if there’s a lot of winking and nodding to the audience… “breaking the fourth wall” as they call it. Still, the name recognition alone should guarantee a certain amount of box office dough. Are you hyped about Hosed?» Related Link: Cinema Blend
