Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior In Theatres This Weekend

Here’s another Super Bowl spot that managed to get a lot of people talking. “Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior” is a Thai martial arts film starring the up and coming star Tony Jaa. With the aging Jackie Chan doing mostly family films and lame romantic comedies nowadays, I guess the martial arts world needed a new tough guy who does all of his own stunts. I was surprised to hear that this is getting a relatively wide release in North American theatres, and this is thanks to French director Luc Besson who bought the rights to the movie, re-edited it and is distributing it throughout the rest of the world. There are lots of different trailers all over the web right now but MTV has a few actual clips from the movie as well, including an impressive 5 minute “acrobatic” chase scene. Check it out and look for it in theatres this weekend.

  1. Just saw the commercial on television….looks pretty dang good!

  2. This film was AMAZING! The stunts are fantastic, the fighting looks brutal, and Tony Jaa really sells the part of a humble, religious country boy who happens to have deadly skills. He really is the next big action star. People in the audience were clapping and yelling “oooh!” when Jaa did stuff. (Such as clear cars in a single bound, or hit some guy in the face with his KNEE, without jumping.)

    See this movie - it’s a ride!
